Fox has annouced a premiere date of September 16th at 9-10 PM ET?PT for their upcoming horror show "Sleepy Hallow" which will be a modern day retelling of Washington Irving's classic.


Synopsis: “Sleepy Hollow,” from “Transformers” team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, finds Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) being resurrected to find a world on the brink of doom.

From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the Star Trek and Transformers franchises, “Fringe”), the thrilling new action-adventure “Sleep Hollow” is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic. ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie) to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers.

“Sleepy Hollow” is from K/O Paper Products in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is co-created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman (“Hawaii Five-0,” Underworld and Total Recall). The series is executive-produced by Kurtzman, Orci and Wiseman and Heather Kadin. Iscove serves as supervising producer. Wiseman directed the pilot.

Upcoming Movies: Riddick

So who is a fan of the "Riddick" movies?

Well if you are you're in luck there is a new Riddick movie scheduled to come out this year.

 The film is scheduled for a September 6, 2013 release.

Horror On TV: From Dusk Till Dawn

With horror going from the silver screen and becoming increasingly popular for networks to have genre themed shows such as "Bates Motel", "Hannibal", American Horror Story" & "The Walking Dead" it's no wonder more and more channels want to get in on the action.

A few weeks ago we saw the announcement  of "Scream" coming to MTV.

This week we see the announcement of THREE new horror themed shows coming to network TV.

This post is about "From Dusk Till Dawn" coming to El Rey Network.

Creator Robert Rodriguez announced this himself.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting: Fans of Robert Rodriguez and his From Dusk Till Dawn might want to make an appointment with Univision in the coming months. The director has announced a partnership with the network via his own English language cable outlet El Rey Network. 

Among the projects announced at the presentation were a TV his Quentin Tarintino’s vampire collaboration and movie “an as yet unnamed action series” from “Fringe” and Star Trek Into Darkness producer/writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci. Before we get too excited – remember that From Dusk Till Dawn has had two DTV follow-ups, where you a fan of those?

El Rey is set to launch at the end of the year via Comcast. Univision will be responsible for the back office operations, sales and distribution of the network.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting: Just last week Fox ordered “Sleepy Hollow” for the 2013-14 season, now we have the first 4-minute promo for the pilot directed by Len Wiseman. The show will air Monday night from 9pm-10pm, which was originally filled by “The Following”.

On this day in Horror History, 28 Weeks Later made it’s theatrical debut. The adored sequel to 28 Days Later (2002), it takes place 6 months after the rage virus decimated London. Although a third installment titled “28 Months Later” from Director Danny Boyle has been rumored, it has been discounted because rights to the franchise are frozen between several individuals who are no longer on speaking terms. Until then, the ’07 release from Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will remain as the close to the infection film franchise that has solidified its place in horror history.

“We are headed for the green-zone, our area of security and reconstruction, designated as District One. District One is located on the Isle of Dogs. Although the Isle of Dogs is completely safe, the surrounding area of London is not. There are a large number of bodies still left to be cleared from the original outbreak of infection. Rats and wild dogs are prevalent, as is disease. New arrivals are reminded, for their own safety, it is absolutely forbidden to cross the river and leave the security zone. You will be joining 15,000 civilians who are already resident in District One. As we approach your new home, you will notice a dramatically increased military presence. Upcoming Horror on TV: The Walking Dead: Season 4: First look

So production started this Monday (May 6th) in Atlanta, Georgia and AMC was kind enough to give us a "first look".

  Details have yet to be released, but the majority of the cast is returning: Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Michael Rooker, Chandler Riggs, Linds Edwards, Jim Coleman, Emma Bell, IronE Singleton, Adrian Kali Turner, Norman Reedus, Pruitt Taylor Vince, David Morrissey and Danai Gurira.


 Season four of “The Walking Dead” returns to AMC in October of this year.

 

Upcoming Horror: Green Inferno

From the mind of Eli Roth… GREEN INFERNO (2013)!

An homage to the controversial Ruggero Deodato classic ‘Cannibal Holocaust’, the film follows a group of student activists that travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a dying tribe but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they protected.

Currently in post-production, the film was shot in an Amazonian village with no contact to the outside world. As a result the natives were unaware that film or television even existed, and in order to solidify permission to shoot, Roth and the producers would use generators to show the Amazonian’s Cannibal Holocaust (1980). Thinking it was a comedy, the natives loved the film and all of them agreed to the filming as well as portraying cannibals in the upcoming release.

May 7, 1939
On this day in Horror History, Ruggero Deodato was born in Potenza, Italy. Arguably one of the most controversial directors of all time, Deodato’s 1980 Cult Film Cannibal Holocaust would solidify his place as one of the most misunderstood and infamous film-makers in the annals of the horror industry. The film itself has been banned in more than 40 countries worldwide in the last 33 years and even resulted in Deodato being charged with murder for sending the stars of the to their merciless deaths. Depicting the “Found Footage” of documentary film-makers that face unspeakable horrors in the Amazonian Rainforest at the hand of cannibalistic tribes, it would garner quite the reaction upon its debut. Prior to the film’s release, Deodato would require the actors to sign a contract agreeing to be sequestered as to add to the realism that the film was the recovered footage of their death. It turned out to be more believable than intended, as it would not be until Deodato requested their presence in the court hearings that his murder charges would be dropped.

Regardless of your beliefs and how you feel about the choices made by the renowned director, there is little doubt that his unique and powerful prowess in film evokes an unsettling terror that few in the industry could ever hope to achieve.

On this day in Horror History, Orson Welles was born. One of the most celebrated talents in the entertainment industry, Welles saw a fair share of awards, controversy, and worldwide infamy in his lifetime. Early in his career while directing the Mercury Theatre Broadcast of "War of the Worlds", based on H.G. Wells' novel, he would terrify millions who believed that the events in the 1938 Radio dramatization were in fact the reporting of an invasion from mars. Publicly apologizing after the mass hysteria that resulted from his fluidity and directorial realism, the world would be in awe for the next half a century watching Welles career give film some of the most beloved movies of all time. Having lent his brilliance to such classics as Citizen Kane (1941) and Othello (1952), Welles was a soul that would bless the world with an ideology and beauty that will forever be missed.

Horror on TV: "Scream" TV series?!

Who heard the news yesterday about Scream becoming... a TV show... on MTV..

That hurts.. badly.

Here is what bloody disgusting is reporting: "News has just hit that MTV is moving forward with an official pilot order for “Scream”, per THR. This comes after nearly a year of speculation, but now it seems all but pre-determined that this thing will actually be shot. Will we ever see it? IE, will it make it to series? My guess is yes – it’s too well known of a property for MTV to not test the waters on it (unless they find the pilot to be atrocious, but I’m guessing they won’t).
Wes Craven is in discussions to come back to direct the pilot, which will be an hour-long. It appears as though Kevin Williamson will not be returning since MTV is currently taking meetings with other writers. This also probably means the death of Scream 5.
There’s no word on if any of the original cast will be back. My guess is they certainly wouldn’t star, but we might see a cameo here and there.
Dimension Films will co-produce. If “Scream” receives a series order it will hit in late summer 2014."


My thoughts: I will watch the pilot.. but its just weird.. MTV and horror don't sound like a good combination at all.  I mean first our music... now our horror!!! I will not accept this!!!!

Horror On TV: Hannibal.

As you know and I posted before, episode 4 of "Hannibal" entitled “Ceuf” will not be premiering in America tomorrow. Instead we will see episode 5 entitled "Coquilles"

NBC and show creator Bryan Fuller felt it was best to cancel the 4th after the recent tragedy in Boston.


But there is a bit of a silver lining as to seeing episode 4.. in a form of a few clips with commentary by Bryan Fuller 


The videos are basically being made to bridge continuity between last week's episode (episode 3) and Thursday's episode (episode 5).

As stated at the begging of the first video Bryan said we (in America )can seek it out online through other sites. but the videos are a "cannibalized" version of episode 4.

Hannibal airs Thursday night at 10/9c on NBC.

Who is watching "Hemlock Grove" on Netflix?

Have you finished the entire season?

I wanted to.. but then I realized I'd rather enjoy it than blow through it in a day.

I am currently 7 episodes in and I love it!!

It very gripping and mysterious and at the same time makes you wanting more!

Horror On TV: Bates Motel

So who is watching Bates Motel on A&E?

I absolutely love it!

It's like a horror mystery.

I feel that with every episode it gets more and more intense.

I LOVE how messed up Norman's mom and brother are, it really gives you a picture of why Norman went crazy.  

Also some good news for the show, A&E picked it up for a 2nd season! (yay)

Details: A&E’s “Bates Motel,” from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights”), is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho and promises to give viewers an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.

April 21, 1989
Today in Horror History, Pet Sematary made its theatrical debut. The first ever film to be adapted to a screenplay by Stephen King himself, it follows a Maine family and the terror lurking in their very own back yard. Filmed in the very same location the novel is set in, Pet Semetary (1989) was inspired by an incident whilst living in Orington, Maine when King’s daughter’s cat had been killed on the highway. Standing the test of time, Church the cat and the horrors that his owners face, has become a staple of the horror genre.

Other than a good 'ol slasher my favorite sub-genre of horror is thriller.

The point of this post is to talk about a new thriller movie entitled: "The Purge" a new movie from the producers of "Sinister"and "Paranormal Activity"


Description: If on one night every year, you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do? In The Purge, a thriller that follows one family over the course of a single night, four people will be tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home.

Horror On TV: Hannibal

So next week is episode 5 (for America only) of Hannibal.

NBC and Brad Fuller (show creator) have pulled episode 4 due to the recent tragedy in Boston.

While I fully understand their motive... It sucks that unless you're overseas or wait to for the DVD to be released you won't see the episode.

Early whilst funding his film projects, Roth would work as an on-line sex operator for Penthouse magazine, where he would have sex online with unbeknownst patrons who would pay by the hour to indulge in fantasies with gorgeous Penthouse models.
