On this day in Horror History, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie made it’s theatrical debut. Considered by many fans and effects artist Tom Savini to be the official ‘Creepshow 3’, it has thrust itself into cult infamy in the 23 years since it’s release. An anthology, it follows three stories told by a child as to prevent being eaten by a witch. The second story “The Cat From Hell" which was written by Stephen King and adapted to screen by George Romero, was initially intended to be present in Creepshow 2 (1987), but due to a limited budget it would not bless the eyes of horror fans until the ’90 release.
“And you see, Timmy's older brother, he had this stupid paper route. And one day, Timmy's older brother got sick. Timmy had to go on collecting, and Timmy went to this one house. And this lady answered the door. She said, "Come on in". So when he went inside, she tricked him and threw him in the pantry. She made him eat cookies all day long, 'cause she wanted him to get fat, 'cause she was gonna kill him, and cook him, and eat him!” –Timmy
