On this day in Horror History, Jason X marked it’s American theatrical
debut. The final addition to New Line’s Friday the 13th Franchise prior
to Freddy VS. Jason (2003) and the acclaimed 2009 remake, Jason X was a
brilliant end to the franchise which seemingly everything had been done.
Considered by famed Voorhees actor Kane Hodder to be the best written
of any of the films starring the masked maniac, Jason X boasts the largest number of on screen kills of any of the series preceding it.
Cheesy premise, the first implementation of computer generated effects
in a Friday the 13th film, and contradictory story lines aside… Jason X
is a pleasurable end to the legacy of the machete wielding antagonist.
Professor Lowe: “Can someone tell me what's on his face?”
Janessa: “Ahh... some kind of 20th century carbon filtration unit?”
Tsunaron: “It's a hockey mask.”
