Today In Horror History

April 11, 1986
On this day in Horror History, Troma’s classic The Toxic Avenger made it’s American debut. The beloved cult film from the minds of Directors Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman follows the exploits of Melvin Junko who after falling into a vat of toxic waste, exacts revenge on those who tormented him ultimately using his new found strength to fight crime in Tromaville. A testament to the campy infamy that has made Troma horror fan’s wet dream, The Toxic Avenger has spawned a slew of adored sequels, and embedded Toxie in the hearts of film buffs everywhere.
